Starlink Installers in Canada – Province Directory 2026
Whether you’ve just ordered your Starlink kit or you’re staring at the box wondering how to get that dish on the roof safely, you’re in the right place. While Starlink is designed for self-installation, many Canadians, especially those with multi-storey homes, steep roofs, or tricky obstructions, prefer to hire a professional.
This directory lists verified Starlink installers across every Canadian province and territory. We’ve researched each company, confirmed their web presence and services, and noted where information couldn’t be fully verified. If you know of an installer we’ve missed, or if anything here is inaccurate, please leave a comment and we’ll update the list promptly.
📌 Important Note: Starlink does not have an official certified installer program in Canada. The companies listed here are independent contractors, electricians, satellite technicians, and IT professionals who offer Starlink dish mounting and setup as part of their services. We recommend asking for proof of insurance, working-at-heights certification (where applicable), and references before hiring.

Joey Stewart — Starlink Installations
Same installer serving Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Contact: 902-989-7268 or 709-702-1823. Based at 11 Akerley Boulevard, Dartmouth, NS.
PEI is a small province and may be serviceable by the above installer or by a local electrician/handyman. The self-installation is straightforward for most single-storey homes.
Joey Stewart — Starlink Installations
Listed as serving Newfoundland and Labrador with a local phone number (709-702-1823) in addition to the Nova Scotia number (902-989-7268). May travel or have local contacts.
Starlink hardware is currently discounted to $99 in Newfoundland and Labrador. For Labrador specifically, local availability of installers is extremely limited—self-installation or hiring a local handyman is likely the best approach.
We were unable to find dedicated Starlink installers operating in the territories as of February 2026. This isn’t surprising—the population density is low and most Starlink users in these regions self-install or hire local help.
What we recommend:
- Contact a local electrician or handyman in Whitehorse, Yellowknife, or Iqaluit
- Ask at local hardware stores—staff often know who does satellite work
- Post in community Facebook groups (e.g., “Yellowknife Buy and Sell”) for recommendations
- Consider self-installation—Starlink is designed for it, and the kit includes everything you need for a basic setup
Starlink covers all three territories. Refurbished hardware is available at $299 in NWT and Yukon as of early 2026.

What to Look for in a Starlink Installer
Since Starlink doesn’t have an official certification program, you’re hiring an independent contractor. Here’s what to check:
Essential Requirements
- Insurance & liability coverage: Make sure they carry general liability insurance. If someone falls off your roof or damages your property, you don’t want to be liable.
- Working-at-heights certification: Required by law in Ontario (and recommended everywhere). This proves they’ve been trained in fall protection for roof work.
- Experience with satellite equipment: Someone who has installed satellite TV dishes (Bell, Shaw, etc.) has directly transferable skills. The mounting hardware and cable routing principles are very similar.
- References or reviews: Check Google Reviews, Facebook, or ask for references from previous Starlink installs.
Good Signs
- They ask you to run the Starlink app’s obstruction check before they arrive
- They discuss cable routing options (through walls vs. along the exterior)
- They offer to help with Wi-Fi optimization or mesh network setup
- They have their own proper mounting hardware (J-arms, pole mounts, tripods)
Red Flags
- No insurance or unwilling to provide proof
- Unusually cheap pricing (below $100)—professional installations with proper mounting typically cost $200–$500+
- Wanting to sell you the Starlink equipment (buy directly from starlink.com)
- No visible online presence, reviews, or references
đź’ˇ Typical Cost: Professional Starlink installation in Canada generally ranges from $200 to $500+ depending on complexity, location, and cable routing. Simple ground-level or single-storey roof mounts are on the cheaper end. Multi-storey homes, long cable runs, or installations requiring a pole/tower cost more. Always get a quote before committing.
How to Install Starlink Yourself
Starlink is designed for self-installation, and most people can handle a basic setup in under 30 minutes. Here’s the step-by-step process:
- Download the Starlink App — Available free on iOS and Android. You’ll need this to activate your account, check for obstructions, and manage your network.
- Check for Obstructions — Before unpacking anything, use the app’s “Check for Obstructions” tool. Walk around your property and hold your phone up at the location you’re thinking of mounting the dish. The app uses your phone’s camera to scan the sky and tell you if trees, buildings, or other objects will block the signal. You need a clear view of the sky—ideally 100+ degrees unobstructed.
- Unpack the Kit — Your Starlink kit includes the dish, a mounting base/kickstand, a cable (50–75 feet depending on your kit), a router (separate for Standard; built-in for Mini), and a power cord. Check that everything is present before starting.
- Pick Your Mounting Location — The best spot is wherever the app showed the fewest obstructions. Common options: rooftop, exterior wall using a J-arm mount, a ground-mounted pole, or the included base for a temporary ground setup. Higher is generally better—it helps clear trees and nearby buildings.
- Assemble and Mount the Dish — Connect the cable to the dish (it only fits one way). Slide the mast into the mounting base or your chosen mount. If you’re going permanent on the roof, use the appropriate Starlink mount adapter (sold separately) and waterproof any penetrations. For temporary testing, the included base on a flat surface works fine.
- Route the Cable Inside — Run the cable from the dish to your router location. For a permanent install, you’ll want to drill through an exterior wall and seal the penetration. For testing, run it through a window or door. The cable is thin and weatherproof.
- Plug In and Power Up — Connect the cable to the router, plug the router into power. The dish will automatically orient itself and search for satellites. Don’t manually move or tilt the dish—it does this on its own.
- Connect to Wi-Fi — After a few minutes of initialization, a new “STARLINK” Wi-Fi network will appear. Connect to it, set your network name and password through the app, and you’re online.

When to Hire a Professional Instead
Consider hiring help if:
- You have a steep or multi-storey roof and aren’t comfortable with heights
- You need to run cable through walls, attic, or conduit
- Your best obstruction-free spot requires a pole, tower, or custom mount
- You want professional cable management and weatherproofing
- You need whole-home mesh Wi-Fi setup alongside the Starlink install
Installation FAQs
How long does a Starlink installation take?
A basic self-install takes 15–30 minutes. A professional installation typically takes 1–3 hours depending on mounting complexity and cable routing.
Do I need Starlink’s official mounts?
The kit includes a basic mount/kickstand. For permanent installations, Starlink sells additional mounts (J-arm wall mount, pipe adapter, ridgeline mount, etc.) through their online shop. Third-party mounts are also available on Amazon and from companies like MobileMustHave.
Can I install Starlink on the ground?
Yes, using the included kickstand. However, roof mounting is usually better because it gets the dish above trees, fences, and other obstructions. Ground-level installs work well in open areas like farms or clearings.
Does Starlink need to be wired to my home?
Yes—the dish connects to your router via a cable (included). The router then provides Wi-Fi throughout your home. The Standard kit’s router is separate and stays indoors; the Mini has the router built into the dish itself.
What if I need longer cables?
Starlink sells longer cables (25m and 50m options) through their online shop. Third-party extension cables are available but proceed with caution—poor-quality cables can cause signal issues. Starlink uses proprietary connectors, so standard Ethernet cables won’t work for the dish-to-router connection.
Will the installer drill holes in my house?
A permanent installation typically requires a small hole through an exterior wall for the cable. A good installer will seal this with weatherproof caulking or a cable pass-through plate. Discuss this before work begins.
The Bottom Line
Whether you DIY or hire a professional, getting Starlink up and running is one of the easier tech installs you’ll encounter. The dish is lightweight, the cable is pre-made, and the system auto-configures itself once powered on.
If you’re in Ontario, you have the most installer options by far. Alberta and Saskatchewan have solid coverage. The Atlantic provinces and Quebec are thinner on dedicated Starlink installers, but local satellite technicians and electricians can handle the job. And the territories—well, if you’re hardy enough to live there, you’re probably handy enough to mount a dish.
